Mexico to Trump: Pay for Your Own Wall

The Mexican government is in essence saying, “Pay for your own wall,” referring to 2016 Presidential Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump’s demand that Mexico pay for the wall he intends to build when he is elected president.

During his many public appearances, Trump has often spoken about building a “true” wall along the U.S./Mexico border in order to keep out drug cartel members and criminal aliens. In addition to calling for the wall to be built, the candidate has stated Mexico will pay for its construction since that country has not been able to fix the problem.

While the comments had earned Trump harsh criticism from the left, the Mexican government has now delivered their answer. The response by Eduardo Sanchez Hernandez, the current spokesman for Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto, came with the added insult of calling Trump ignorant, Bloomberg reported.

“Of course it’s false,” Sanchez Hernandez is quoted by Bloomberg. “It reflects an enormous ignorance of what Mexico represents and also the irresponsibility of the candidate who is saying it.”

Sanchez is quoted as saying that the Mexican government has not taken Trumps statements on the campaign trail as serious proposals. He added that the majority of Mexicans in the U.S. follow the law and that immigrants make up an important part of the American workforce.

The government official’s attack of Trump comes at a time when his boss, the Mexican president is publicly reviled. He is reviled not only by protesters but also by many of the independent news outlets. Some of these outlets have called for Pena Nieto’s resignation over the lack of basic security conditions relating to the out of control cartel violence in Mexico as well as widespread allegations of corruption .

The out of control cartel violence in Mexico has resulted in the U.S. Department of State’s having to constantly update a Travel Warning for American tourists. The warnings have resulted from raging gun battles between cartel armies and the Mexican military, kidnappings, murders, and multiple other crimes, particularly along border areas.

The ongoing violence has even led to two leading congressional leaders calling out Secretary of State John Kerry over the lack of security conditions at U.S. Consulates. The State Department workers are asking that they receive danger pay for working in Mexico, Breitbart Texas reported.

Despite the out of control violence, Mexico’s top officials continue to turn a blind eye to the violence by working a systematic campaign of denial or minimization of the raging gun battles. In one of the most outrageous examples, reported by Breitbart Texas, Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior Miguel Osorio Chong claimed that Mexico had the best security conditions in a decade.

In addition to the raging cartel violence in Mexico, the government is now dealing with the outrage of reporters worldwide following the brutal murder of Ruben Espinoza, a news photographer who had been very critical of government officials in Mexico. He was particularly critical of the governor of Veracruz Javier Duarte. Many blame him for Espinoza’s death.

Prior to his death, Espinoza openly talked about the lack of security conditions for a free press in Mexico. In a way predicted his own death, Breitbart Texas reported. Despite the outrage caused by Espinoza’s death, the Mexican government appears to be working to cover up the murder and has begun leaking gossip to Mexican outlets friendly to the government.

Violence aside, the Mexican government is also dealing with a failing economy where the peso continues to drop in value, as was previously reported by Breitbart Texas’ Peter Maffitt. The allegations of corruption by government officials reach the highest levels.

As Breitbart Texas also reported, the allegations of corruption point to the Mexican president allegedly getting a luxurious mansion from government contractors in exchange for preferential treatment. Pena Nieto and his wife have denied the allegations, claiming that the house was paid for with her earnings as a soap opera starlet. Carmen Aristegui, a famous award winning journalist who exposed the corruption along with her team has since been terminated from their jobs.

Well, America could easily cut Mexico's foreign aid and reduce the funds our government is spending on and in Mexico to pay for the walls and fences we need.

The U.S. Government gave a total of $209,432,920 to Mexico in 2012:

I would not expect them to say anything other than this. After all, that has been Trump's point all along that Mexico's leaders are smarter than ours. But Trump will prevail. Mexico will pay for the wall if Trump is elected, one way or another.

Coulter: Trump's Right, Mexico Will Pay for a Border Wall

On "Hannity" tonight, Ann Coulter agreed with Donald Trump's assertion that if he's elected president, he will be able to make Mexico pay for a border wall.

"We send Mexico $14 billion in aid every year," Coulter said. "Of course they'll pay for the wall."

She added that attacks on Trump's alleged flip-flopping on his political positions are not sound, and he has been consistent on illegal immigration.

Coulter pointed out that most of the other GOP candidates insist that they want to do something about illegal immigration and border security, but they never act.

She said that's not only true flip-flopping, it's lying to the American people.

Trump says would raise visa fees to pay for Mexican border wall

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump would increase fees on some Mexican visas and all border crossing cards as part of a broader plan to force Mexico to pay for a wall along the southern U.S. border.

Trump, the frontrunner in a crowded Republican field, has made immigration a central plank of his campaign. On NBC's "Meet the Press," he said he would deport all undocumented immigrants and rescind U.S. President Barack Obama's executive orders on immigration.

The orders, if enacted, could protect as many as 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation.

In a policy paper issued on Sunday, Trump said he would increase fees on temporary visas for Mexican chief executives, diplomats and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) workers if Mexico does not agree to pay for the wall.

The NAFTA agreement of 1994 eliminated most tariff and other barriers to free trade and investment between the United States, Canada and Mexico. It permits the temporary cross-border movement of business travelers within the region.

Trump said he would also impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages and increase fees at ports of entry from Mexico. Foreign aid cuts and tariffs would also be considered.

"The Mexican government has taken the United States to the cleaners," he said. "They are responsible for this problem, and they must help pay to clean it up."

Trump began his campaign in June by saying Mexico is sending its criminals and rapists to the U.S. The comment sparked outrage from Hispanic civil rights groups and others.

In his new position paper, Trump said he would triple the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and pay for the increase by eliminating tax credit payments to illegal immigrants.

He would also increase penalties for people who overstay their visas and end the policy of giving automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.

Applicants seeking to enter the U.S. would have to certify that they could pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs, he said, and he would raise the bar for the admission of refugees and asylum-seekers.

Trump said he would also place the issuing of green cards to foreign workers on pause so employers would have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed workers.

"This will help reverse women's plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages," he said.

The Presidential election will be held in 2016.

He also mentioned DRONE THE BORDER with manpower backup. In this hi tech age, why not? We need a border one way or another that prevents human illegal entrants.

There are wildlife, some endangered, that migrate back and forth along the border. US Wildlife Services in a no trap area, illegally trapped & killed the last known American jaguar, Macho B, a few years ago in a botched after trap situation. Since then 1 jaguar has been spotted at the border. The eco system & preservation of species is important too. Unfortunately, the wildlife sanctuary areas are big crossing points as there are no border patrol agents there.

If other countries want to overpopulate, that is on them and should not be our responsibility to take them in. It would be more cost effective to educate them in their native lands of the consequences of overpopulation and how to stop it. 7.3 billion people in the world & expected 11 billion by 2050. Birthright citizenship contributes to that and causes less habitat for wild creatures, more food, water and energy demands too. How extraordinarily selfish to eliminate species.
