    Police arrest seven illegal workers in Marquette Township

    Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10:13 p.m.


    MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- Seven illegal workers were taken into custody Saturday morning at around 7:15 and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Sault Ste. Marie for deportation.

    A trooper from the Negaunee State Police Post arrested seven male Mexican nationals while performing a routine property inspection at the Lowe's store construction site in Marquette Township.

    The illegal aliens were working as employees of an out-of-state roofing sub-contractor.
