Coast Guard Seizes $729M Of Cocaine From Suspected Drug Smugglers

The Coast Guard recently seized more than 26 tons of cocaine from suspected drug traffickers.
A military spokesman announced the haul Monday, saying the agency intercepted over $700 million worth of cocaine over the past two-months. A total of 57 alleged traffickers were also taken into custody.
The drugs were seized from boats attempting to smuggle the narcotics from Central and South America into the U.S.

The Coast Guard deploys ships to high-traffic regions like the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific Ocean, which is known for cartel activity.


A commander involved in the operation released a statement acknowledging the crew’s hard work keeping drugs off American soil.
