Oh, this is funny - if you plug in the name of the organization that the quoted attorney works for / is affiliated with 'Centro Legal' in Google, you'll get the usual pages of hits back. Then, if you chase down the 2nd or 3rd link in the result set (below)

    http://www.immigrantlawcentermn.org/eng ... ources.htm

...you'll see the organization listed in the displayed table. In the table there are 2 columns which have 1). Service Provider (includes org. name, contact) and 2). General Information

In the General Information column pertaining to Centro Legal, you'll see the first item in the list is "Serves Spanish-speakers only." (cut/pasted directly from the site)

Federal agents to testify on Willmar immigration raid

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) Federal agents will be on the stand in immigration court today, testifying about a raid that netted some 50 undocumented immigrants in Willmar last April.

Attorney Gloria Contreras-Edin of the Latino legal services group Centro Legal says the cases of four Willmar residents will be heard as well as some residents from Worthington.

Conteras-Edin claims agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement known as ICE used improper or illegal tactics to get information that led to deportation or removal proceedings.

An ICE spokesman has defended the actions of the agents saying the Willmar operation targeted illegal immigrants who had criminal warrants out against them.

ICE, Willmar and Atwater police and others are being sued by 50 plaintiffs who claimed they were mistreated and their civil rights were violated during the operation.

"This is about upholding the basic constitutional rights and freedoms of Americans — whether they are black, white or Latino," Contreras-Edin said.
The illegals found were not Americans. Illegal aliens do not get "Constitutional rights".

I agree that every ICE agent needs to have a minature camera in their hats to film every single raid. Then they can scream all the want, and have their lawsuits dismissed when the evidence is shown.

I'm sick of illegals screaming about violation of their rights!!!

    illegal whining and court cases

The only rights they have (AFAIC) are to be treated humanely while incarcerated before being deported.

Nonsense! I think we can see through this b.s. garbage. The illegals were probably mad because they got caught and created this phony story (along with some racist pro-illegals). Why on earth would immigration agents force the woman to remove their clothes? And the part about the white workers being spared harsh treatment, is made up. Americans are not buying it!!!

Case stemming from Willmar immigration arrests gets smaller
    4/23/2008 10:30:01 PM

    Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- A federal lawsuit from last year's immigration raid in Willmar was whittled down Wednesday when a judge dismissed counts against the U.S. government and authorities acting in their government roles.

U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery cited jurisdictional reasons for her decision. She also dismissed 14 plaintiffs from the case and told the remaining plaintiffs to re-file their complaint to clearly describe how the rights of each person were violated.

Some defendants contend the lawsuit "lacks specificity to allow the named federal officers and ICE agents to prepare a defense on the merits," Montgomery wrote. "This court agrees."

More than 50 people, including U.S. citizens, illegal immigrants and children, were arrested in the raid last April. The plaintiffs claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and other authorities broke into homes and randomly stopped Hispanics.

The lawsuit made several allegations, including that plaintiffs were subjected to unreasonable searches and seizures, deprived of due process of law, and denied the right to attorneys.

The IA's attorney is using intimidation tactics knowing full well there is no real justification for this lawsuit.IMO this is happening across the country to stop police,ICE,towns, counties and states from enforcing immigration laws beause of the cost associated with fighting these lawsuits.

I hope judges start seeing thru these smoke screens and start fining attorneys for filing frivilous lawsuits !!
