Minuteman Founder Supporting Libertarian for California Governor

Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the Minuteman Project, said in a radio interview last night that he is voting for Art Olivier, the Libertarian Party candidate for California governor.

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) August 22, 2006-- Jim Gilchrist proclaimed his support for Art Olivier, the Libertarian Party candidate for California governor. Gilchrist, the founder of the Minuteman Project, said on the John Ziegler radio show on KFI in Los Angeles “I intend to vote for Art Olivier.” Gilchrist criticized Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his poor record of battling illegal immigration and claimed that Art Olivier is the only candidate for governor to stand up against illegal immigration and for law enforcement.

Jim Gilchrist joins a long list of conservative and libertarian leaders that are upset with Governor Schwarzenegger’s political shift to the far left. Other prominent California leaders to state their support for Art Olivier are radio host John Ziegler, homeless activist Ted Hayes, Republican Central Committee Member Marvin Stewart, Vice President of the California Black Republican Council - Los Angeles Chapter Keith Hardin and former Assemblyman Phil Hawkins.

Art Olivier has taken a strong stance against illegal immigration. He says that, “the Governor is encouraging illegal immigration by declaring that illegal immigrants have rights to health care, schooling and so on.” Olivier believes that there should not be any public benefits to people that are here illegally. He has also stated that children of illegal immigrants should not be granted citizenship and that when the police arrest illegal immigrants, they should turn them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
