Both sides on immigration issue march in Seattle

Both sides on immigration issue march in Seattle

SEATTLE (AP) With Congress set to do battle this week over immigration laws, the issue was debated yesterday in the streets of Seattle.

Dozens of demonstrators who oppose the president's plan for immigration overhaul marched to the Federal Building with American flags and signs that read, "no amnesty." They're demanding tougher border security to keep illegal immigrants out of the U-S.

Their protest prompted a counter-demonstration by people who'd been marching in a Seattle gay-pride parade. One member of that group says the anti-immigration bill demonstrators are bigots.

But opponent Bob Baker, says it's not a partisan issue. He says it's simply about "standing up" for the country and opposing those who would do it harm.

I know a gay pride parade organizer and he is very Liberal but he is intelegent and sees the stupidity of unmitigated illegal immigration. He will not be voting Democratic this next election and he's still gay, still proud and still Liberal.

So just because someone is gay, doesn't mean they support illegal immigation.

Gay Americans have the right to be as they are. As a once republican, I believe that we need to stay out of bedrooms. Most of the people who march in gay pride are americans and understand the rationale of not being invade by other countries. We need strong enforcement of employer and a fence. Nothing else is going to work.
