Missouri Senator Josh Hawley Introduces Bill to Give States the Power to Deport Illegal Aliens

On September 27, 2022, Missouri Senator Josh Hawley introduced a bill that would grant individual states the power to enforce federal immigration law, which includes the deportation of illegal aliens.

Hawley is calling for the US to “take the gloves off” to combat illegal immigration.

The “Empowering States to Deport Illegal Immigrants Act” would grant state and local law enforcement officers the power to carry out certain federal immigration laws. This legislative proposal was introduced at a time when the Biden regime is doing everything possible to undermine border security.

The bill would effectively nullify a 2012 Supreme Court decision which significantly hamstrung states’ ability to enforce immigration laws.

The aim of Hawley’s bill is to give states the power to deploy their resources for immigration enforcement.

For one, it would grant state prosecutors the power to carry out prosecutions for federal immigration law violations. States would also have the power to deport illegal aliens. Border states, specifically, would be allowed to take steps to fortify the border.

According to a Fox News report, Republicans have hammered home the point that there have been over 2.1 million encounters in this fiscal year. A substantial segment of these encounters end up being released into the US’s interior. On top of that, there have been over half a million “gotaways” suspected to have invaded the US.

The Biden regime’s decision to scrap Trump-era border policies and sharp reduction of internal immigration enforcement protocols have largely contributed to the present migrant surge at the southern border.

“If Joe Biden isn’t going to enforce immigration laws why don’t we let the states enforce immigration laws?” Hawley stated last week on “The Ingraham Angle” where he talked about his legislation. “The State of Texas would love to, the states of Florida, Arizona, they’d love to enforce immigration laws.

Let’s them do it, let’s let them secure the border, let’s let them deport illegal immigrants according to our laws.”

“Let’s take the gloves off here, let’s enforce the law, let’s restore order to the border,” the Missouri senator declared.

Hawley’s legislation is one of the recent moves that red state elected officials are beginning to pursue at a time when the federal government has been noticeably derelict in enforcing immigration laws.

Texas has already launched Operation Lone Star while Florida sent several illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard.

With how detached DC has become on the immigration question, the states will have to assume this power vacuum in order to protect the nation’s sovereignty while also maintaining its national character.
