Man sentenced for transporting Illegal immigrants in SC
http://www.islandpacket.com/front/story ... 8308c.html
A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to a year in jail for transporting illegal aliens in South Carolina.
United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten of Florence sentenced Enrique Hernandez-Lopex, 21, of Mexico, Thursday. He will be deported after serving his sentence.
Last October, a deputy with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on I-95. The vehicle was being driven by Hernandez-Lopez and had seven passengers, all illegal aliens from Mexico or Guatemala. Hernandez-Lopez admitted that he too was in the country illegally, and that he was driving his passengers to South Carolina to look for work.
The case was investigated by agents of the Florence County Sheriff’s office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day II of the Florence office handled the case.
