MMP Tossed From La Raza Convention/ Inappropriate Apparel
From my email:
Hi CL~
Three Pennsylvania Minutemen accompanied by that coast-to-coast
activist VigilAnnie1 and the Chairman of the New American Independent
Party were escorted from the La Raza convention this afternoon by
Philadelphia Police for wearing clothes that supported the United
States Border Patrol.
Only VigilAnnie1 and I were wearing obvious Border Patrol gear.
VigilAnnie1 had her undocumented BPA shirt on and I was wearing USBP
hat. A third Pennsylvania Minuteman was wearing a hat she picked up
on MMP that had a US flag and 'I support the Border Patrol' in half
inch letters.
A fifth member of our party, a member of the Constitution Party was
intercepted by convention security moments before he entered the
convention floor and was asked to leave.
After we arrived in the Philadelphia Convention Center, we were
approached by a number of convention participants and except for one
Hispanic individual with press credentials on his shirt and glowering
anger in his eyes, a friendly discussion ensued as we waited for the
doors to the corporate display room to be opened.
As our discussion winded down and we headed for the corporate event,
a security officer approached the Constitution Party member and said
something to him. The rest of us continued on into the room.
Five minutes later, as we were talking to the friendly GM people we
met yesterday when we had uninterrupted access to the convention, we
were approached by building security who maintained a sensible
distance from us until the Philadelphia Police arrived and tapped me
on my back and asked me to step away from the counter we were
gathered at.
The police inquired about our intentions and I told him we were there
at the public invitation of one of the La Raza convention
participants.

He informed us our clothes offended the people who were paying for
the convention and they wanted us to leave. I explained again that we
were publicly invited, spent a pleasent time visiting the convention
yesterday and only wanted to see more of this free and open to the
public event.
The police officer went off to call his supervisor and confer with
event staff. Meanwhile, his partner asked for id which I furnished
and that coast-to-coast vigilannie1 didn't. Actually, she did but
said her name was Jane Doe, which the police officer accepted and
when asked her age, she replied "over 21"!
There was one other Jane Doe in our party. The rest of us cooperated.
Within a few minutes, the first police officer returned and said we
had to leave the premises. I again raised the issue of the invitation
and he directed us over to an event official who instructed us to
leave. When asked why, she said you're wearing Border Patrol clothes.
I asked what's wrong with the Border Patrol? They are doing a
valuable service for our nation. She replied with a remark like, the
clothing is not appropriate here (well, duuuh!) and you (I) are not
Border Patrol.
Meanwhile, the intrepid Vigilannie1 was vociferous in her indignation
of being an American getting thrown out of a public event because of
what she was wearing.
We have plans. We will be providing updates.

It sounds as if "Vigilannie1" is a loose cannon..which only hurts our cause. Civil and orderly protest works best because it infuriates the opposition...thus making them, not us, look like asses (burros).

no, this does not hurt "our cause"....it helps! It shows how hypocritical La Raza is as is MALDEEF...remember they cry racism etc eetc yet look at how they respond? The same way the don't want to be treated.
Let us see if anything comes from this...? Liberal press probably will not touch it?

ALIPAC NOTE: Rumor has it that La Raza coordinators noticed the Minuteman supporters when almost one third of their La Raza attendees ran out the back door in a hurry!

this is what I don't understand ... how can "illegal aliens" be protected by the First Amendment right for peaceful assembly and petitioning OUR government for grievances when they are not citizens and it isn't THEIR government ..

I think this action by the Minute Men was OUTSTANDING!!
You can go anywhere and buy a US Navy t-shirt, a Redskins t-shirt, a CIA, DEA, ATF t-shirt and cap, a combo, that you would like to wear at any t-shirt can cap store anywhere....and wear it anywhere in the United States.
Until the United States has a "dress" code, there is no such thing as "inappropriate attire" in a public convention center.
AND, since the United States can't enforce its "border code", its "security code", its "citizen code"....may I suggest law enforcement has enough to do enforcing REAL LAWS instead of making them up as they go along.
While I am originally from Missouri, I lived in Philly for 15 years. It's gone to the "dogs" in since I've been in North Carolina...because while I lived in Philly....this would have never happened. In fact the local news would have have the 3 brave Minute Men on the local news of all three networks discussing the issue of "border patrol".
This is just another level of proof that the National Council of La Raza is a foreign organization; does not understand our laws, our system, our America; and has risen to a level of power undue them through a fraudulent 501 C 3 organization.
Interesting isn't it how La Raza was disturbed by the Border Patrol shirts on citizens....but wasn't disturbed at all by the presence of REAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS!!
GO MINUTEMEN!! GO MINUTEMEN!!
You made me proud!!
greyparrot, what was it that vigilannie did that bothered you? She stood up to police officers that were out of line. They had no right to approach her to begin with. Until some one shows me a statute or law prohibiting "t-shirts" with name and letters on them....they had no right to approach these American Citizens at all!! They were out of line.
