05-12-2008, 03:37 PM #11"In my opinion, there has been a dramatic improvement in the last two months," Richardson told reporters in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua, across from New Mexico, where he met with Chihuahua Gov. Jesus Reyes Baeza.
Richardson said he would ask U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza to reevaluate a travel alert, issued by the U.S. State Department in April, that warned U.S. citizens of rising violence in northern Mexico but stopped short of suggesting that Americans avoid traveling in the region.
Associated Press - May 10, 2008 1:55 PM ET
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Governor Richardson has negotiated an agreement with AeroMexico to provide direct flights from Albuquerque to Cuidad Chihuahua, Mexico.
Bill Richardson said he would ask U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza to reevaluate (as in lift?) a travel alert, issued by the U.S. State Department in April to enable easier air travel between NM and Mexico--a wise decision?
Mexican officials begged the Mexican government to get the travel alert cancelled through 'diplomatic channels'. Evidently Richardson is helping no matter the cost to American citizens.
Who would be utilizing this flight service to Mexico?
It is clear where Richardson's loyality is.
Is President Calderon in charge of Mexico?
He exports Mexico's social problems to the U.S.--illegal aliens.
Corruption thrives in the government.
He warned the U.S. Congress not to impose conditions on a $1.4 billion anti-drug aid package.
He wants an open border with no respect for our sovereignty.
Drug cartels, smugglers and some political groups are out of control.
The Leftists took over both houses of Mexican congress for several weeks.
A group blows up pipelines.
Appeal to Mexican President Calderon:
"Amnesty International has documented torture, arbitrary detention,
excessive use of force and the denial of due process," said Cox in a letter
to President Calderon ahead of his official visit Sunday through next
Thursday (Feb. 10-14). "The public security and criminal justice
institutions have too frequently been characterized as abusive, ineffective
and lacking independence and transparency."
Larry Cox, executive director of Amnesty International USA"Distrust and caution are the parents of security."

Gov. Richardson concerned about border violence
Associated Press - May 12, 2008 8:45 PM ET
DEMING, N.M. (AP) - Governor Richardson says he's concerned about violence along New Mexico's border with Mexico.
Authorities say seven men have been killed in the Mexican border town of Palomas in a turf war among drug cartels.
The Luna County Sheriff's Department says 162 gun shells were found where five men were killed Sunday in Palomas, across the border from Columbus, New Mexico.
Another 67 casings were found where a man and his son were fatally shot Friday.
A spokesman for Richardson says the governor has directed New Mexico public safety officials to be vigilant to ensure the problems don't spread into the United States.
Richardson also plans to ask New Mexico lawmakers to approve funding for an increased state law enforcement presence in the region.
