Last week, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol intercepted a massive amount of methamphetamine hidden in a tractor trailer.

The drug bust was made on April 12 at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Pharr, Texas, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

Authorities say that a semi truck hauling honeydew melons across the border was referred for closer inspection. Using “non-intrusive imaging technology,” agents discovered 304 pounds of suspected methamphetamine concealed within the fruit shipment.

The street value of the seized meth is estimated at $6,085,000.

The truck and trailer were seized by Border Patrol agents. The case has been referred to Homeland Security for further investigation.

“This was a great interception of hard narcotics that our officers accomplished this past weekend in another commercial shipment arriving from Mexico,” said Port Director Sylvia Briones, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry. “This demonstrates CBP Field Operations’ continued steadfast commitment in the fight against drugs.”
