It's a race against time as more and more immigrants rush to cross the U.S.-Mexico border before National Guard troops move in to aid Border Patrol. Eyewitness News Border Reporter Oscar Margain is in McAllen.

It's disgusting what's going on. The troops will help stop this madness.

By itself, the memo does not carry the force of law or change any official policy at the border. However, by signing it, President Trump has sent a significant directive of intent to the parts of his administration concerned with national security and immigration enforcement. The move is symbolic to an extent, but it also signals that Trump is going to add this to his agenda in the coming years. That could mean that he will begin to pressure Congress to officially change the laws…even though that will prove difficult, if the inaction over DACA and the border wall provide us with any predictive value.

Then drive the bus right over the border and drop them OFF!

Mexico wants "open border"...we can play that game too

Many of these folks will never show up for there asylum hearings because to do so would mean most of them would be deported and they know it!

How will the National Guard troops stop this madness when there is only 4,000 of them, they will be unarmed, and they will be kept away from arresting or stopping illegals?

The last several reports I've read and heard is that they will be armed where appropriate and for self-defense. In fact I think the Memorandum from the Pentagon even says so.

I don't have any assignment information and am not aware of any specifics being released to the public.
