OTAY MESA — A man wanted for attempted murder in the San Fernando Valley community of Arleta was arrested Thursday while trying to cross the border with two women at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.

The three were in an Acura Integra when they were stopped about 4 p.m.

A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Officer checked the name of passenger Horacio Gonzalez, 20, and found out that there was a no-bail warrant for his arrest. He was later positively identified through his fingerprints.

Gonzalez, a resident of Pacomia in the San Fernando Valley and a U.S. citizen, was wanted for an attempted homicide in Arleta on March 16, said Angelica De Cima, a CBP spokeswoman. He was arrested and turned over to Los Angeles police.

The 21-year-old female driver, a Mexican citizen, was released. An 18-year-old female passenger, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to Los Angeles police for violation of her probation on a burglary conviction.
