Effective February 1, Nebraska became the latest state to join the Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify, or RIDE. Nebraska joins Mississippi, Florida, Idaho and Iowa in this program which links E-Verify with state departments of motor vehicles and state public safety offices. RIDE allows E-Verify to validate the authenticity of driver’s licenses and state identification cards that employees present as identity documents for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. RIDE helps to reduce document fraud and boost the accuracy of employment eligibility verification by E-Verify. Uh, well, considering some states give driver's licenses and state ID's to anyone, I'm not sure this is how we Verify someone's eligibility to work in the United States.

Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify (RIDE)

Driver’s licenses and ID cards account for nearly 80 percent of the documents used as proof of identity by employees for E-Verify.

The Records and Information from DMVs for E-Verify (RIDE) initiative is an enhancement to the E-Verify program that verifies the validity of driver’s license and ID card information by matching the data entered by employers against participating state motor vehicle department records.

RIDE enables two-part verification by validating the information on select identity documents in addition to the existing employment authorization check.
