N.H. - Man charged with driving without a license may face deportation

NORTH ANDOVER — A man caught driving without a license early Wednesday morning may face deportation, police said.

Julio Rafael Mejia Murillo, 25, of 146 Bailey St., Apt. 2, Lawrence, was stopped at 3:35 a.m. at Massachusetts Avenue and Waverly Road by Officer Jarrad Lawlor. When Murillo failed to produce a valid license, Lawlor arrested him for unlicensed operation.

Investigation revealed that Murillo is not a legal resident of the United States, police said. The local department notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Murillo was held without bail pending his arraignment in Lawrence District Court. Police Lt. Charles Gray said it’s up to the immigration authorities to decide whether to hold Murillo on a detainer warrant.
