    ICE arrests convicted Mexican national released from local custody after detainer was ignored
    Luis Alejandro Villegas, 31, was released from local custody Dec. 31, 2016, after being detained for driving while intoxicated. Villegas has a previous criminal conviction for robbery in the first degree, forcible theft with a deadly weapon for which he served five years’ imprisonment. Following his prison term, Villegas was removed from the United States in 2007 pursuant to a final order of removal.

    ICE Milwaukee arrests 16 during operation targeting criminal aliens
    All 16 arrested during this operation had been convicted of crimes in the United States and fall within ICE’s enforcement priorities. Their convictions include the following crimes: force/assault with a deadly weapon not firearm — gross bodily injury likely, receiving stolen property, battery, grand theft (auto), drug possession with intent to distribute, and drunk driving. Two were previously deported and two have outstanding deportation orders.

    Mariyah Chernykh, 26, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Jesus Bernal to charges of conspiracy, perjury, and false statements related to her sham marriage to Enrique Marquez Jr. As a result of her guilty pleas, Chernykh faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

    Member of Los Zetas criminal organization sentenced in San Antonio to 15 years in federal prison for cocaine trafficking
    Sergio Heredia, aka Keko, aka Sobrino, of Piedras Negras, Mexico, was sentenced Jan. 26 to 180 months in federal prison. Heredia pleaded guilty in August 2015 to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.

    Southeast Texas man pleads guilty to 3 child pornography charges
    Miguel Jimenez Jr., from Freeport, Texas, came to the attention of authorities after they believed he was uploading and storing child pornography into a virtual storage account. A search warrant was executed at his residence, at which time law enforcement located and seized various computers and cellphones. Forensic analysis of the phones, computers and virtual storage accounts revealed 658 child pornography images and 634 child pornography videos.

    Arizona inmate sentenced to additional 25 years for organizing drug deals while in prison
    PHOENIX – A Mexican man was sentenced Tuesday to an additional 300 months in prison for organizing and overseeing the distribution of methamphetamine in the Phoenix area while incarcerated in state prison.

    US Marine Corps pilot sentenced to more than 7 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography
    U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Jason Michael Ehret, 44, an active-duty officer serving as an aviation flight instructor, was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Janis Graham. Ehret was further ordered to pay a $10,000 fine. He must also serve the rest of his life on supervised release, during which time he will have to comply with numerous requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet.

    Montgomery County man convicted for distribution of acetyl fentanyl resulting in death
    According to the testimony at his three-week trial, from May 2014 through March 17, 2016, Justin Larson, age 30, conspired to distribute acetyl fentanyl, and furanyl fentanyl, a controlled substance analogue. The evidence showed that on May 9, 2014, Larson distributed acetyl fentanyl to an individual, resulting in the death of that individual.

    Former Colorado police officer sentenced for selling counterfeit Denver Broncos merchandise
    David Brian Henrichsen, 51, a former police officer in Colorado Springs, Colorado, pleaded guilty to one count of computer crime to commit theft, and was fined $7,500 by Adams County District Judge Ted Tow for his role in the criminal enterprise.

    Colorado man sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for transporting child pornography; used identity of officer with 'internet crimes against children'
    On May 6, 2015, a federal grand jury returned an Indictment charging Brandon Tyler Hill, 31, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Rhiannon Carnahan, of Woodland Park, Colorado, with child pornography related charges. Prior to the indictment, Hill and Carnahan were charged via Criminal Complaints.

    Boise man pleads guilty to receiving child pornography
    Travis L. Spradlin, 37, first caught the attention of HSI special agents in September 2015 when a Yahoo account linked to his residence was used to send and receive child pornography. Agents also determined an individual in the same Boise residence had accessed a Russian photo-sharing website to obtain child pornography.

    Fort Worth woman sentenced to 6 years in federal prison following her convictions of forced labor and harboring illegal aliens
    Olga Sandra Murra, 64, was sentenced to 72 months in federal prison and ordered to pay a total of $795,000 in restitution to her two victims. Murra has been in federal custody since her conviction in August 2016 on two counts of forced labor and two counts of harboring illegal aliens.

    Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera to appear in Brooklyn federal court on allegations of leading a continuing criminal enterprise, other drug-related charges
    Guzman Loera, 59, will be arraigned on a 17-count superseding indictment on Jan. 20, before U.S. Magistrate Judge James Orenstein in federal court in Brooklyn. The case is assigned to U.S. District Judge Brian M. Cogan. Following his extradition to the United States on related charges filed in the Western District of Texas and Southern District of California, the Mexican government approved a request by the United States to proceed with prosecution on the charges filed in the Eastern District of New York on May 11, 2016.
