U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made three significant seizures of marijuana, methamphetamines and suspicious currency totaling over $846,000 near the Port of Nogales over the weekend, officials said Wednesday.

On March 4, officials working at the DeConcini entryway encountered a 44-year-old woman from Mexico driving a Buick sedan. The woman was referred for secondary inspection, where a narcotics detection dog alerted positively to the vehicle. After a more intensive inspection, officers found 10 packages of methamphetamines in the dashboard. The drugs weighed close to 14 pounds with a street value of more than $450,000, Juan Osorio of the CBP said.

The woman was taken into custody and the U.S. Attorney's Office has accepted prosecution.

On March 5, a 39-year-old man from Mexico applied for admission at the DeConcini port. His vehicle was referred for secondary inspection, where 77 packages of marijuana weighing more than 160 pounds were found. The drugs have a street value of more than $96,000, Osorio said.

The man was taken into custody and the U.S. Attorney's Office has accepted prosecution.

On March 7, CBP officials selected a Hyundai sedan for additional screening. The 32-year-old driver and her two minor children, all from Mexico, were directed to the secondary inspection area. A currency detection canine alerted positively to the vehicle. The car was moved to the vehicle lift area, where a closer inspection yielded six packages of U.S. currency totaling $300,000. Relatives picked up the children and the woman was taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
