MILFORD — Police estimated 2,000 to 2,500 people, not including those in a motorcycle procession, paid tribute to Matthew Denice with a vigil at Draper Park last night.

Last Saturday, the 23-year-old local man was killed in a horrific accident allegedly involving an illegal immigrant from Ecuador. Mr. Denice's brother, Michael, said the motorcycle rally en route to the vigil was coordinated by Matthew's friends and fellow bikers.

Mr. Denice's death has renewed a debate over illegal immigrant deportation policies, but Michael Denice said the family wanted the night to be about honoring Matthew, with drunken driving and immigration to be addressed after he is laid to rest.

Matthew Denice was excited about being in the first graduating class of Framingham State University, formerly a college. He graduated two months ago, his family said. A week before he died, he started a job in information technology at The Coding Source, and had purchased new shirts and suits, his brother said.

Matthew recently bought his motorcyle and was cautious with it, never riding fast or at night. Michael said his brother was bringing the motorcycle home when the accident happened

He said his brother would have been honored by the outpouring of support and turnout, which was more than the family expected. People throughout the country who saw the news stories online about the accident reached out to the family, Michael said.

Police Chief Thomas J. O'Loughlin said he was impressed by the vigil. “It just shows the true fabric of this community.â€

Earlier yesterday, outside the county jail in West Boylston where Mr. Guaman is being held on $100,000 cash bail, Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis announced he had signed an application to join the Secure Communities Act program, bypassing Gov. Deval L. Patrick's reluctance to enroll the state in the federal program.
Gotta LOVE it when a LEO tells his boss to shove it and goes over his head! Guess this makes 3 Sheriffs to tell Patrick to take a hike.

We need to keep everyone coast to coast reminded of the toll that illegals and their lack of respect for the laws of are nation are costing LEGAL Americans. If the Feds don't enforce the laws then its time the states rise up and do the enforcing for them. If that means taking illegals off the streets and dropping them off at the border on the BP's doorstep then so be it. We need to keep pressure on Congress and the House so they do not cave in to LaRAZA. If it means bypassing the Supreme court then we may just need to do it too. If your country is invaded you have to toss some feelings and laws to the side and take action to stop the invaders and to push them back over the border.

MILFORD, Mass. -- A recent college graduate killed by an alleged drunk driver is now being laid to rest. Authorities say that man was dragged for nearly half a mile before the driver -- who was in this country illegally -- finally stopped.

He was always smiling, always telling jokes, always trying to make everybody happy,â€
