Sparks Fly at Capitol Hill Hearing on Immigration Raid

Sparks Fly at Capitol Hill Hearing on Immigration Raid

    By Ben Harris, JTA
    Tue. Jul 29, 2008

Washington — Witnesses at recent congressional hearings described the federal immigration raid on the country’s largest kosher plant as a travesty of justice, a national disgrace and an ambush.

But comparing the government detention facilities where 300 illegal workers arrested in the May 12 raid were detained to concentration camps was too much for one of the officials involved.

“Personally and professionally, I find that quite offensive,â€

Forman told a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on July 24 that the arrested workers had food, beds and televisions, as well as access to competent legal counsel.
That's sometimes more than legal law abiding citizens have.

agreement offered by prosecutors would send them to jail for five months before they were deported, or refuse the plea and go to trial.
They are bitching about that? Gee, have these people ever been to traffic court? Same thing goes on there. Pay the fine or do the time.

It's a deal and if you don't like it, don't take it and face what may come.

I think this guy should loose his certification, since "Erik Camayd-Freixas, a federally certified translator", whet to the press about an enforcement opperationdy.

    sick

What sickens me about all this crap is that these hearings even exist. That WE even give illegal alien criminals a voice. They should have no right to even open their mouths, they or a representative for them.

It's like a farmer and his neighbor talking about the neighbor's dog killing the chickens, it's way past time for discussion, time to get the dog out of the henhouse.

While Republican members tended to focus on the need for stepped-up enforcement and Democrats more on the supposed violations of individual rights, all seemed to agree on one thing: The nation’s immigration system is badly in need of repair.
The immigration system doesn't need repair. The polititions that don't enforce it do.
He testified that the detainees, many of them illiterate, poor and with a spotty understanding of Spanish – many of them speak native tongues – had only a tenuous grasp of the charges pending against them. Guilty pleas were obtained under duress, Camayd-Freixas said, from defendants who didn’t know what a Social Security number was, let alone that they had stolen one.
I bet they didn't even know they were in the country illegally!

They were right about one thing the American people are not going to be fooled into another amnesty or guest worker program, especially since they are not willing to close the border or enforce the laws we now have, no less pass any more enforcement bills or e-verify.

We are not stupid, we can see the next 40 million.....how does it go "fool me once shame on you" fool me twice shame on me" NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

"RED ALERT" "TAKE ACTION NOW ALIPACER'S"
Senator Menendez is holding up e-verifiy...."call your House Reps"
