    A worn red, white and blue sign taped to the front door of ResourceMFG warns potential hires that the recruiter uses a federal program to root out illegal immigrants.

    Branch manager Tamara Mantooth put the sign up about two months ago when she noticed that nearly half the company's applicants presented questionable IDs.

    Many of the illegal aliens in North Carolina work in the construction industry. The licensed contractor usually isn't the one hiring them; rather, its the subcontractors who hire mostly illegal alien crews with fake social security numbers. If ICE would start targeting these small independent businesses using illegal alien labor, I think it would really help.
