Four arrests, more to follow in federal immigration investigation
BUSINESS WRITER • June 18, 2008
Federal agents have arrested four supervisors at a Greenville poultry plant as part of an investigation into alleged immigration violations.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald said today those arrested worked at the House of Raeford Farms plant.
According to affidavits filed in court by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, those arrested allegedly used an invalid Social Security number, an invalid alien registration card or another person's Social Security number to obtain employment.
"There will be additional arrests," McDonald told GreenvilleOnline.com.
House of Raeford officials had no immediate comment.
But in a statement on the company Web site, House of Raeford officials have said they are "assertive" in hiring from the pool of available applicants who have legal documentation for employment.
"We have policies and programs in place that follow federal requirements for verifying the eligibility of job applicants," the statement said.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
