LOGAN -- Immigration and Naturalization Service Agents jailed nine Mexican men working in Logan County.

State Police said they were anonymously tipped that some of the workers at Logan Regional Hospital were illegal.

Of the eleven men questioned, nine did not have papers, said Sgt. Brian Brown with Logan State Police detachment. A spokesperson for the hospital said the men were sub-contractors hired for renovations through a Tennessee contractor.

"Our agreement with the contractor clearly requires them to comply with all laws and assume responsibility for their workers. We are disappointed that these issues have emerged and trust the contractor will take the necessary steps to resolve this matter," according to a prepared statement released by the hospital.

The detained were being held at South Central Regional Jail.
