The Republican National Committee unveiled a Spanish-language radio ad today that it plans to run during next week's Democratic convention that promotes John McCain's support for comprehensive immigration reform, while deriding Obama as all talk and no action.

McCain reached across the aisle to Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts on the reform, which also had the support of President Bush. But the proposal died in Congress last year after opposition from those who said the path to citizenship amounted to amnesty.

During the Republican primaries, McCain soft-pedaled his support for the plan, declaring that he wouldn't push it again until the borders were made secure. Both he and Democrat Barack Obama are courting Hispanic voters, who could be the difference in swing states such as Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico.

"How do you know someone is a friend? You know because they stand up and defend you when it is hard. When Hispanics needed a friend in Congress during the immigration debate, who stood up? Who spoke out? John McCain," the announcer says, according to a translation by CNN.

"Senator McCain worked with Republicans and Democrats alike to form immigration legislation. And while the bill didn’t pass, only McCain demonstrated a real commitment to reforming immigration in a way that honored our laws as well as our immigrants and traditions," the announcer continues.

"And Barack Obama? Obama did not stand up. Obama did not speak out. And when the time came for him to do the right thing, he did not. Obama supported measures designed to insert a deadly 'poison pill' to kill the immigration legislation. If Obama didn’t even have the courage to stand up for immigrants, how can he claim to have the strength to change the way Washington works? John McCain is ready to lead. Barack Obama is not."

The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced a new Spanish-language radio advertisement, titled "Commitment v. Rhetoric." As the Democrats prepare for their national convention in Denver, the radio ad will remind voters that Barack Obama has consistently shown a lack of leadership in defending the interests of the Latino community, while John McCain has consistently taken on the difficult issues facing America.

The Spanish-language ad will begin airing on Monday, August 25. It will air statewide in CO, including Denver, Colorado Springs/Pueblo, Aspen, and Fort Collins/Greeley. The ad will also air in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico; Las Vegas, Nevada; and El Paso, Texas.

John McCain sucks on Immigration. So many republicans are registering unaffiliated and independent because of his awful pro amnesty stance.

I know this is perhaps being too picky, and that this is a quick radio ad, but I need some backup references to the angelity of McCain and the anti-illegal stance or inaction of Obama. Where is the proof?

Republicans Swoon Over Latinos

As pundits wonder whether McCain's house gaffe becomes the $400 haircut of the election and the "Other Edwards" floated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi adds to the tension of our impending text-message moment, the Republican National Committee is doing some Latino outreach.

A new radio spot, which omits clips of Tom Tancredo, will air statewide in Colorado, and parts of New Mexico, Nevada and Texas, in Spanish:

McCain of course, disowned his own legislation after a fierce Republican backlash and was largely absent during the critical meetings shaping the immigration bill, except when he famously screamed at his Texas colleague John Cornyn for questioning how he, McCain, could parachute into the negotiations and demand to get his way.

Obama, for his part, did back an union-friendly amendment that undermined GOP support for the bill. He did not take any politically difficult stands and was no profile in courage. But it was Republicans who killed the bill, and held nothing back in stirring fears of the threatening hordes. Whatever its merits, the legislation represented a civil rights moment for Latinos. Republicans, defying Karl Rove, went a long way toward alienating the nation's fastest-growing voting bloc whose cultural conservatism made them a natural constituency. This may be a hard one for McCain to pull off, but he's clearly going to try, because he needs to hold the Southwest, so narrowly won by Bush and trending Democratic.

Why are politicians courting people that can't legally vote?

Why won't they appeal to the vast majority of Americans who want our borders secured and our laws enforced? We are the ones with the votes but we are given no real choice between the candidates on this important issue.

I want to know if they really mean it when they take office and swear to obey and uphold the Constitution why are they excluding article four section four which requires the U.S. government to "Protect the states from invasion ...and domestic violence", twenty million outlaws settling here from around the world is proof neither of the candidates has done the job they swore to do!

Either they are really stupid, or they hope these people will go out and illegally vote, just like everything else they do is illegal.

The only way to stop this non sense is for a third party candidate to make a strong showing then maybe the republicans can understand that its not worth throwing the majority of their party under the bus on immigration issues to get a few extra pro illegal immigrant votes.

This is the McCain influence. If Romney, Hunter etc. had won. we would likely not be seeing these pro-amnesty ads from the RNC. IMO, in terms of a mass amnesty passing, McCain is more dangerous than Obama.

This is why I will not vote for John McCain.
