No Real Estate Rights for Foreigners
I travelled across country, from Boston to Los Angeles in 1985. I could not believe that every hotel I stayed in was owned and operated by foreigners, mostly East Indians. This was more than 20 years ago...I am sure the amount of real estate they own is a far greater percent than it was then. The prices I had to pay for the rooms seemed absorbitant, yet everywhere I went, the motels were operated by Indians. They have a monopoly in the industry. I am sure there must be some family, or political connection amongst the owners. They seemed to have formed a "mafia" to jack up the prices.
How did this come about? What are their intentions? I read the previous post about how a foreigner can get a green card by bringing in 100K US$.
Is there anyone out there working on removing the right of foreigners to own real estate in the US?
I think this is a serious problem. I don't think foreigners should be allowed to own real estate in the US. There are not many other countries who allow this, or if they do allow it, the restrictions are many.
I have lived in Asia for several years, the Middle East too. I can't own property in Asia, and could only own in 'special foreign investmen zones' in the Middle East.
