Immediately after Hurricane Katrina, the first Hispanic charter school in the city opened.

The goal of the school is to educate the thousands of Hispanics who came to rebuild the city of New Orleans post-Katrina. This week, the first 8 th grade class graduated to the next language and culture.

Jenny Martinez is one of those graduates who has made a long educational journey, which began 10 months ago.

all on your dime... it's amazing how it is ok for Illegal Aliens to be prosperous in this land but if an American citizen loses his or her job it's Oh well, retrain yourself, go back to school and get a higher education so that the government can outsourse that job as well on a VISA ...

I am so tired of reading about others going to school on the American citizens dime and the MSM praising the lot.... close the school or have the Mexican and South American governments pay for it

...apparently the "UNO Charter Schools" first started in yes, you guessed it as a charter school in a Mexican enclave in Chicago exclusively for Mexican kids living there...apparently the Mexican students couldn't cope with attending the free public schools they were allowed to enroll in...and their "leaders" found a way to get state and federal dollars to open an ethno-centric "charter" school...now they're everywhere that there are a large group of "Mexican" students. All the schools are named after ....you guessed it.....Mexican "heroes" or advocates for "immigrant rights and justice"..
