Non-Citizen Voting: ‘American Dream’ or ‘One of the Worst Ideas Ever’?
    By Caitlin Webber, CQ Staff

An emerging movement to give non-citizens the right to vote in local elections should be resisted because it puts at risk national cohesion and the value of U.S. citizenship, according to a new report by a group that supports lower immigration.

“The Constitution, the Congress and the courts have enshrined voting as a core indispensable element of American citizenship and democracy,â€

Those who support non-citizen voting argue that it would actually be more democratic because more interests would be represented and participation in the political process would aid newcomers’ assimilation.

There should be but one interest and that is the interest of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. There is no more interests. BS about the assimilation. Most of these people don't want to assimilate or they would without having to be bribed.

One more thought about the traitor Ms. Kelly. Why, if you are an American citizen, are you trying to undermine the meaning of that citizenship?

There have been times when my hubby wishes he could vote. However, we both agree that only citizens should have that right. He actually takes it one step further, he thinks that those who hold duel citizenship should lose their right to vote as they have acknowledged a duel alliance and may not be voting for what is best for this country, but taking into consideration what affect our government will have on the other country, vote in the best interest of the latter.

He ended his statement on the CIS report saying, “in general, this is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard in public policy. It defies common sense.â€
