GOLDEN VALLEY — A Golden Valley man has been arrested by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office detectives after they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children organization in regards to an online child pornography investigation.

According to Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, 18-year-old Eulalio Trejo Hernandez, was taken into custody around 2 p.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of North Highley Road on suspicion of 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

“Our detectives received the information from the organization and during an investigation they learned Hernandez had numerous images of child pornography on his cellular phone,” said Carter. “We also confirmed that Hernandez shared the photos on an online social network.”

The case then took a turn when detectives suspected Hernandez was in the United States illegally.

Detectives became wary of Hernandez’s immigration status after he failed to provide a legitimate form of government identification.

“He handed the deputy another form of identification that did not prove he was legal to be in the country. While in our custody, we further pursued the matter and contacted Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement to get a confirmation of his status. Our office was advised by an ICE agent that Hernandez was here illegally,”Carter said.

Hernandez was arraigned before a judge Monday morning and is being held on a $25,000 bond. Carter noted that Hernandez has also been placed on a hold by ICE.

“If Hernandez does bail out, he will be immediately turned over to ICE, and if he isn’t bonded out before his next court date on Sept. 13 he will continue facing the charges of child pornography,” said Carter. “It is all in the court’s hand now.”
