Expanding its investigation into immigration fraud, the office of state Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo Monday issued more than 30 subpoenas to New York City groups or individuals accused of posing as legitimate immigration service providers or providing legal services they weren't authorized to provide.

"This expanding investigation continues to uncover evidence that organizations and individuals disregard the law and give unauthorized legal advice to New York's immigrant communities,"

Cuomo said in a news release. "The consequences of bad legal advice can devastate individuals and their families, threatening their citizenship and chances for a life in this country."

The subpoenas demand documents and testimonies from these organizations and individuals within 30 days.

In May, Cuomo's office subpoenaed more than 50 individuals and businesses.

Last month he announced he had halted the operation of three firms, including Alisandra Multiservices, Inc. in Brentwood and All Immigration Services of Great Neck.
