ROCHESTER, NY – Union carpenters in Rochester say work practices at the Brooks Landing project are taking jobs away from local labor — and contributed to a situation that brought illegal immigrants to the job site.

The construction site manager says that’s not the case, and most of the work on the publicly-supported project is going to local people.

Members of Carpenters Local 85 picketed the Brooks Landing site on the Genesee River Tuesday. One of them was Chuck Peaslee. He said subcontractors are hiring workers as “independent contractors,â€

When it comes to jobs going to illegals instead of union members, sounds like NY needs the Soprano family to step in.

When the housing industry was booming, I didn't hear any complainsts from the Caroenter's Union. I still don't hear very many. Thanks for posting this.

I agree. Sadly, many Americans will remain complacent and apathetic until they experience the invasion first-hand. Many who are supporters of the illegals will have a rude awakening.
