    SARATOGA SPRINGS — About 10 people gathered in the snow outside U.S. Rep. Scott Murphy’s (D-Glens Falls) Broadway office Tuesday afternoon to urge the congressman to support comprehensive immigration reform.

    How can they want to reform when we have so many americans out of work.

    Mallett said immigration reform would have a positive effect on the economy by allowing employers to create a level playing field rather than paying some immigrant workers low salaries under the table. The taxes that would be collected by the new citizens are another potential economic benefit, she said.
