In New York, elected Democrats are seeking to provide voting rights for all noncitizens, including illegal aliens, living across the state, Republican State Assembly members say.
During interviews with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Sunday, New York State Assembly members Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island) and Colin Schmitt (R-New Windsor) explained how elected Democrats sought to register all voting-age noncitizens, including illegal aliens, to vote in the state while passing legislation that will give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.
“[Democrats] did try to slip in a bill that would allow for automatic voter registration and basically what the bill said is ‘Anyone who applies for a driver’s license would be automatically registered to vote except if they opted out,'” Malliotakis said. “So it put the burden on the individual to say ‘Hey, I’m not eligible. I can’t vote.'”
“Very, very dangerous slippery slope here,” Malliotakis said. “We called them out on it … we were able to get that bill pulled from the agenda at the eleventh hour.”

Schmitt said the Democrats’ plan was to not only to automatically register all noncitizens and illegal aliens to vote, but also to prevent them from opting out of registering to vote.
“The legislation stated … that if anyone, whether it be a driver’s license or any form … would automatically be registered to vote unless they checked an ‘opt out’ box,” Schmitt said. “So if they did not check that ‘opt out’ box, they’d be registered to vote. Now the next section … stated noncitizens may not check the ‘opt out’ box.”
“Three, four days before you pass driver’s licenses for illegal aliens and then a couple of days later you were trying to pass legislation which would have automatically registered every single person to vote, including undocumented, illegal aliens and just noncitizens in general, regardless of what their status is,” Schmitt said of elected Democrats’ plan,which had the backing of Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

Malliotakis said Democrats were fully aware that illegal aliens and noncitizens would attempt to vote, if the bill had passed, because the plan effectively included provisions legalizing voter fraud.
“Clearly, [Democrats] know that there will be individuals who are here either illegally or people that are maybe legal residents but noncitizens that will be registered [to vote], because in the bill they actually put in a provision that said, ‘If someone accidentally registers to vote or registers and votes that there will be no penalty against that person,'” Malliotakis said. “So the fact that they put that language in there just shows that they anticipate people being registered who are not eligible to do so.”
Though New York Republicans were able to thwart the Democrats’ effort to register all illegal aliens to vote, both Malliotakis and Schmitt said the plan is likely to be one of the top priorities for liberals next legislative session.
“I do anticipate that they will try to bring back another version of this bill,” Malliotakis said.
“I really do believe that this will come back up again … this is a fundamental right as an American citizen to vote,” Schmitt said. “And this bill and, really, this entire philosophy that this bill would have enshrined into law, endangers and attacks the integrity of our elections … regardless of what party you’re in.”
“At the end of the day, as American citizens, we have the right — and as New York citizens — we have the right to elect the leaders that we would like to elect,” Schmitt said.
With the passage of driver’s licenses for illegal aliens in New York, state officials have said illegal aliens will have the “ability to vote.”
Government Accountability Institute (GAI) Director of Research Eric Eggers, an expert on voter fraud, told Breitbart News that New York’s giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens made it clear that it is “only a matter of time” before states attempt to expand voting rights to all noncitizens.
“It’s only a matter of time before we see the expansion of illegal alien voting in state elections and eventually the Left pushing for illegal alien voting in federal elections,” Eggers said.
In California, where illegal aliens are allowed to obtain driver’s licenses as well, voter fraud has become common across the state. Last year, the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) admitted that it had registered 1,500 non-eligible voters, including noncitizens, over the course of just six months.
While Cuomo, elected Democrats, and the business lobby have helped to pass the driver’s licenses for illegal aliens initiative into New York law, upstate New Yorkers and suburban voters have revolted against the plan.
The last Siena College poll revealed that a majority of all New York voters, 53 percent, oppose giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, including 62 percent of upstate New Yorkers and more than five-in-ten suburban voters in the state.
