ICE Resort for illegal detaineees
Sucks, sucks, sucks, just like ALL the bennies IAs get from OUR taxes. Time for a change we can believe in.
Obama administration softening of security in DCs.
OK, I am a retired Captain of Corrections. I worked in one of the most violent prisons in Tx. for over 20 yrs. During that time I learned alot about dealing with persons from every walk of life and nationality. Illegal aliens and citizens. These measure may seem to create better living conditions for those confined, however they create more danger for the detainees and the officers working in the facilities. Lax security can never be good. Just because these are detainees and not "convicted felons" does not mean that they want to be confined. These lax measures will allow the movement without restriction within facilities and will change they way officers have been performing their duties for years. That alone will result in incidents because the officers will not know how to react when different situations arise. This will also create more violent situations for the detainee population, not everyone gets along all the time and this will allow new opportunities for assaults and disruption that has not been delt with before. Not to mention these facilities are not desighne for a "free movement" atmosphere and there will be more incidents of escape attempts which often result in violence and or injury. Before any Government official makes this type of change in a detention environment they need to develope plans by working with the staff in the facilities who have "real experience" not just look at operational policies. I watched the TDCJ-ID go through horrible incidents many resulting id death and distruction because the people making decisions on how things are to be done made their decisions based on their own thoughts or interpretation of how they "think" something is done or should be done. It is not how many degree's or how much influence a person has that makes them knowledgable in a Correctional or Detention environment, books cannot give you the experience. That is what it takes is "experience" . Learn from Texas' and many other states mistakes. Speak with those who walk the halls.
