It will start something alright..12 million (more like 40mill) illegal aliens looking for amnesty competing against millions of refugees - who will be allowed to work.
I'd take the refugees, who stuck it out in their own countries as long as they could, over the illegal aliens (who took the easy way and steal from us).
I suspect the "refugees" will be the more educated ones and business owners, who can actually contribute to an economy.
Send back the illegals.
Geez, at least under the Bush administration we were making some gains. Lately it's startng to seem like every gain we made over the last two years is being reversed."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

I have not read an article specific to this Populist. It is hard to believe however the attitude of Homeland Security head Napalitano when it comes to the dangers on the border and its threats to the United States. Had the border been secured years ago, the kidnapping, the drugs, the crimes, and the problems that face us now would be far less pronounced.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I heard the other day that according to out laws that cover this, these people are not allowed entry under asylum status unless they or a member of their family are specifically targeted. And that there are other areas in Mexico where they can go that doesn't have the violence. I'm not sure if refugees are under that same catagory, but if not, Americans won't put up with this crap.

Obama can unilaterally pass an amnesty
Obama granting amnesty to the majority of 8 to 20 million people, without the approval of the American people or the US Congress, is a very real danger. It would only require that Obama instruct the Attorney General to designate Mexican Nationals as eligible for Temporary Protected Status due to the conditions created by Mexico’s drug war. Do not be fooled by the name. Citizens of El Salvador (both illegal and legal) recently had this “temporaryâ€

What's going to stop everyone from Mexico from coming here, gaining U.S. citizenship, keeping their Mexican citizenship, and simply collecting benefits and living in Mexico, going back and forth? They can come here and work once in a while, while bringing their money back to Mexico to build big houses there, bring the kids here to get educated, come here to go to college, paid for with grants of course.
How much is it going to cost to process all of these people?
There is a backlog now.
Will we just not do background checks? Will they have to get the medical clearances they should have gotten before they crossed illegally?
How much will it cost to staff the border crossing checkpoints, with millions that will then be able to cross whenever they want?
What will happen to this country if millions suddenly are able to vote in our elections, and the elections in a foreign country?
Where will they all work? Will they make enough money to actually pay taxes, or will they make so little, and have so many dependents, that they will get huge refunds every year? Where will that money come from?
This will be a mess.
