Jamiel's Law didn't make it Signatures Stolen ???

Anti-gang measure won't make May ballot in LA

    The Associated Press 12:47 p.m. December 11, 2008
LOS ANGELES β€” The city clerk's office says backers of a measure that would increase immigration checks on gang members suspected of being in the country illegally have failed to gather enough signatures to put it on the May ballot.
Maria Garcia, a spokeswoman for the city clerk's elections division, said Thursday supporters turned in nearly 19,000 signatures – about 55,000 fewer than required.
Garcia says proponents initially claimed to have gathered about 76,000 signatures.
The proposed measure was named "Jamiel's Law" for a high school football player who was shot and killed March 2. Prosecutors say the man accused of killing him was in the country illegally.
Shaw's father says he is disappointed but intends to pursue a similar law at the county level.

This was not for the whole state for signatures, just LA area. It would be nice if all the signers would join our cause and group.

The People Vs. Illegal Immigration is a battle taxpayers must win? It's come to a point now that the open border zealots have taken over members of our government. Alas, corrupt politicians are demanding campaign contributions, so they are playing with the lives of victims--such as Jamiel Shaw, the 3 members of Bolgna family in San Francisco, killed by animal gang bangers. This of course is the tip of the bloody iceberg in Sanctuary city and states around the country. Read the facts at www.judicialwatch.org

I can believe my eyes. Come to www.alipac.com and join. Nearly 19,000 signatures are American citizens being damaged by the gangs and undocumented immigrants in our country. I do not know how the petitioners got into the streets to collect the names. There are 4 million people in just LA.

'"Jamiel's Law" is named after 17-year-old Los Angeles High School football player Jamiel Shaw II, who was gunned down in March, allegedly by a reputed gang member who was in the country illegally. The measure would modify the Los Angeles Police Department's Special Order 40, which prohibits officers from initiating contact with people for sole purpose of determining whether they are illegal immigrants." by Anne Cusack, Los Angeles Times.

Jamiel's parents were quoted in the L.A. Times the other day saying that they had 80,000 signatures. Seems that someone can't count or someone can quote well.

This poor family has basically been told by the powers that be in LA to get lost! Tony Viliareconquista wants nothing to do with any law that would potentially deport any of his illegal invader, gang-banging criminals!

19,000 is a long way from the 76,000 that they needed for this city law change, and that attempt is now over and done.
The population of L.A. is more than 4 million.
If they try to go to a county law or a state law they need many more than the 76,000 and they can't use the 19,000 towards them.

OK...something seems amiss here. Did supporters miscalculate by 55,000 signatures? That seems odd to me, especially when supporters appeared confident they had gathered enough signatures!
