Two brothers attempted to trick officers at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on Wednesday with fraudulent border crossing cards.
Officers weren’t fooled.
They arrested the brothers — a 33-year-old man and a 44-year-old man — from San Luis Potosi, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
“Whether someone attempts to impersonate another person by presenting legitimate travel documents or birth certificates or presents a document that has been altered to meet their needs, (Customs and Border Protection) will arrest those violators for violation of U.S. immigration law,” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr., who manages the Hidalgo, Pharr and Anzalduas border crossings.
Customs and Border Protection didn’t name the brothers.
Officers encountered a similar situation at the Hidalgo-Reynosa bridge last week, when a 36-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife from Veracruz presented fraudulent documents, according to the news release.
