Rio Grande City police investigating several cases

Authorities are warning motorists about illegal immigrants trying to jump into vehicles.

Rio Grande City police say it’s happening in their community. The Rio Grande is just yards away from busy shopping areas off Highway 83. Salvador Osorio said he frequents those stores.

Osorio said he is worried about what illegal immigrants may bring with them.

“What does bother me the most is drugs. There's a lot of people involved in drug trafficking,” Osorio said.

Police said drivers have called 911 after illegal immigrants tried to force their way into vehicles.

Rio Grande City Police Chief Noe Castillo urges people to call police when they see it happening.

“They don't get reported that often, but they should. You never know what these people are trying to do. You don't know their intentions are,” Castillo said.

Castillo said one woman had to run back into a store after illegal immigrants tried to get into her car.

“They're kind of desperate to get away or try to find the actual vehicle they were trying to get in,” Castillo said.

Castillo said people must be aware of their surroundings.

Police in Rio Grande, Texas, are warning motorists that individuals who have just illegally crossed the border into the U.S. may attempt to forcefully enter their vehicles.

Police chief Noe Castillo said his department has received reports of people crossing the Rio Grande River and then immediately trying to jump into motorist’s cars.

“They don’t get reported that often, but they should. You never know what these people are trying to do. You don’t know their intentions are,” he told KRGV-TV.

He added that one woman called to report individuals who ran back into a store after trying to hop into her vehicle.

“They’re kind of desperate to get away or try to find the actual vehicle they were trying to get in,” Castillo told KRGV.

The police chief warned motorists that they should always be aware of their surroundings.

A representative from the Rio Grande Police Department was not available Wednesday evening for comment to TheBlaze. An email to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol was not immediately returned.

You think if we outlawed "gated communities" and they started jumping into those homes and vehicles, we'd still have "amnesty" threats? I don't think so.
