Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will become the first of the 2016 presidential candidates to sit down with illegal immigrants for dinner as part of activists’ plan to try to drive the issue and further mainstream people living in the shadows.

Mr. O’Malley will eat with the Ramirez family in Austin, Texas, according to a handful of immigrant-rights groups who are organizing the events, which they’ve dubbed DAPA Dinners, after President Obama’s stymied deportation amnesty, known officially as Deferred Action for Parental Arrivals.

The family is headed by illegal immigrants and four of the six children in the family are also in the country without authorization, according to a video posted by activists in 2013.

Mr. O’Malley has been trying to use the immigration issue to gain a foothold within the Democratic primary, as he struggles to catch Sen. Bernard Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The groups organizing the dinners said Mr. O’Malley will make history by joining the dinner, becoming the first presidential candidate to knowingly sit down with a family headed by an illegal immigrant.

They are challenging all 2016 candidates to try a dinner.

GOP candidate Carly Fiorina has refused the offer, the groups said.

This is just simply sick, having dinner with illegal aliens that are working against the real American citizens whose jobs and wages they are stealing. Something is really just wrong about this all but who cares if an American parent can feed their own children as longs as illegal aliens can take care of their own family. Are we living in a world of craziness????

O'Malley: Jesus was a refugee

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley invoked the name of Jesus as he decried the plan by the Obama administration to deport hundreds of illegal alien families.

A Christmas Refugee Roundup sounds like something [Donald Trump] would concoct,” O’Malley tweeted Thursday. “Remember: Jesus was a refugee child who fled death gangs.”

O'Malley's comments come hours after reports emerged that the Department of Homeland Security is planning a push to deport hundreds of immigrants from Central America who fled violence in their homelands.

Huh? Jesus fled "death gangs"? Recall that an angel appeared to Joseph when Jesus was an infant to warn him of Herod's decree that all male Jewish children two years old and under [not necessarily "firstborn," as a previous draft alleged – ed.] be put to the sword.

This was an organized, systematic effort to kill by Herod's soldiers. Where O'Malley came up with the notion of "death gangs" – the sort of gangs that roam central American countries – is a mystery.

And we should also realize that Jesus was part of one single "refugee" family. There was no mass movement of Israelis to Egypt. So the idea there is any parallel at all to modern-day refugees from Central America is absurd.

Why is it that every time liberals want to hit back against conservatives, they use some exaggerated point about what Jesus would have done? In this particular case, O'Malley has made himself look and sound foolish by stretching the point about the Holy Family's escape from Herod's paranoia.
