OK: business leaders want immigration law reconsidered

State business leaders want immigration law reconsidered
    Associated Press - February 17, 2008 5:25 PM ET

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - State business leaders are discussing possible efforts to encourage lawmakers to reconsider parts of Oklahoma's new anti-illegal immigration law.

Some of those efforts could include a public information campaign about what they say are insidious aspects of the law, which is considered to be the nation's toughest such legislation at the state level.

The measure, House Bill 1804, was passed by the Legislature last year and was signed into law by Governor Brad Henry.

It went into effect for the public sector on November 1st and will go into effect July 1st for private-sector employers.

Among other things, it bars illegal immigrants from receiving tax-supported services, requires employers to verify the immigration status of their employees and exposes employers to legal action for hiring unauthorized immigrants in place of U.S. citizens.

Those who support changes in the law acknowledge that their efforts might not be well-received by leaders in state government.

The reception from U.S. tax-payers isn't going to be warm and fuzzy either.

If there is a business who needs workers and the american (US Citizen Pool) has been exhausted then it should be the law that if they need to bring workers into the country they.

    A. Pay fair wages
    B. Take out taxes
    C. Provide benefits.
    D. Move then out in two years to give the opportunity for someone else to work in US.
    E. Make sure they have gone through Homeland Security checks, get the fingerprinted, DNA done and make sure they have a clean record.

If we make this clear and they will get fined heavily if they don't, I don't think that US businesses with need immigrants anymore. Do you?

The oklahoma legislature should answer them by having a session and then raising fines on businesses that hire illegals. They should also set up a fund and group that sends people out to apply for jobs suspected of hiring illegals and see the treatment and patterns of hiring of only'' migrants' and lower the boom on them if they do not hire americans.

Also ,have business owners who have problems with this bill submit in writing why they have problems with it.To show that these business are doing this on good faith ,the state should look into the hiring patterns of these same business owners.% of english speaking to non, does % of workers represent population of the area (if area has 40% black and 55% white and business has no blacks and only 2 whites hired out of 40 empolyees something seems wrong here.)If these businesses owners are not breaking any laws they should have no problem with revealing records.

Here are examples of employers that don't like laws as Oklahoma now has. This video documents a raid by CA-OSHA on 20 employers in the SF Bay Area paying $4 to $5 an hour, less rent for squalid conditions. Rats like these employers don't want OK style laws.

Note that one employer can't speak English and through an interpreter says he didn't know he was violating safety laws!! Duh. If you can't read and understand English, maybe you shouldn't be running a business, and maybe YOU are illegal.
