Hector Barba (El Paso Police Department)
El Paso police arrested a man suspected of having heroin and meth with him during a traffic stop.

Police said Hector Barba, 37, was stopped Wednesday in the 3700 block of Gateway West after making an unsafe lane change on Interstate 10. The officer who stopped Barba said he gave a false name, was unable to show a driver's license and handed officers a fake Social Security card and birth certificate.

After officers determined Barba's true identity, he was arrested. A police drug-sniffing dog also detected drugs in Barba's vehicle, and officers found 14.5 grams of heroin and almost 140 grams of meth.

Barba was booked into the El Paso County Jail on suspicion of tampering with a government record, failure to identify and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. His bonds have been set at $85,300.
