Immigration rallies
Hazleton, which is about 90 minutes north of Harrisburg, has been making waves with its own crackdown on illegal immigrants. In July a U.S. District Judge ruled that Hazleton's illegal immigrant law is unconstitutional. The City is appealing that ruling. Saturday the debate came to Harrisburg. Ben Russell has the story on two rallies and two very different opinions.
On a warm Labor Day weekend, two groups of people descended upon Pennsylvania's capital city with just that word in mind - Labor. But they differ in their answers to a few basic questions: Who has the right? Who doesn't? And who gets to decide?
This rally on the State Capitol steps was billed as the largest anti-illegal immigration ever in Pennsylvania. These people came largely in support of Hazleton's efforts to keep undocumented workers out.
PA Rep. Darryl Metcalfe, (R), 12th District:

I am tired of these people talking hate. It is the diversity that is destroying our nation, not hate. However, when you see your government catering to one group of people it is frustrating and what you are seeing over and over again is frustration. Our nation is going downhill because of diversification. We need to unite as one people. LEGAL PEOPLE> The illegals aliens are a much different culture than ours and they do not want to become Americans they just want what we use to have. What are they going to do when they turn our country into thiers and there is no more opportuniuty? Who is going to support Mexico then?
