Orange County CA. Reps. say NO AMNESTY

Obama backs amnesty plan; O.C. reps say no
By DENA BUNIS
THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama promised Thursday to do all he can this year to turn the immigration reform blueprint authored by one Democratic and one Republican senator into the law of the land.
The lawmakers want to create a tamper-proof Social Security card, beef up border security, let high-skilled foreign students stay here after graduation, allow needed low-skilled workers to come here in the future and permit millions of undocumented immigrants to legally stay in the United States.
With some modifications, the plan by Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is reminiscent of the comprehensive bills defeated in 2006 and 2007.
The main differences would be the creation of what appears to be a tougher workplace identification card and the differentiation between low and high skilled workers for future immigration to the United States.
Like the previous plans, this one includes a legalization plan that would require illegal immigrants to pay fines and back taxes, pass background checks, know English and go to the back of the line to earn lawful permanent residency.
The senators released the plan via a Washington Post op-ed. Obama pledged "do everything in my power to forge a bipartisan consensus this year on this important issue so we can continue to move forward on comprehensive immigration reform." He urged Congress to act "at the earliest opportunity.''
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher called the outline "a fraud. It's the same old stuff from a guy (Graham) who tried to ram amnesty down our throats several times before. They're hoping it will go down with a spoon full of sugar but they won't succeed."
The sugar, says Rohrabacher, are promises of border security measures as well as a biometric Social Security card the senators say would "ensure that illegal workers cannot get jobs.''
The release of this blueprint is undoubtedly timed to coincide with Sunday's Washington, D.C. march in support of comprehensive immigration reform. And it comes just days after Obama met with Graham and Schumer and with a group of immigration advocates from the clergy, labor and civil rights groups.
"It's a relief to have this underground debate and discussion come above ground just in time for spring,'' said Angela Kelley, who leads immigration policy for the Center for American Progress, a Washington, D.C. think tank.
"The American people deserve more than empty rhetoric and impractical calls for mass deportation,'' Schumer and Graham said in their op-ed. "We urge the public and our colleagues to join our bipartisan efforts in enacting these reforms.''
Rep. Gary Miller, R-Diamond Bar, doesn't believe this proposal will have a prayer of passage, said his spokeswoman, because the American public opposes rewarding illegal behavior.
Rep. Ed Royce, who like the rest of Orange County's GOP House members opposes such a measure, said he fears that with Schumer and Graham teaming up, "We're going to have a hard time stopping this. There are more Democrats in the Senate than they were before. It's going to be a harder lift for those of us who are going to lead the effort in opposition to it.''
Any effort to pass a bill will start in the Senate. And while this framework is bipartisan, so far no other GOP senator has stepped forward to join Graham.
And despite Obama's pledge, when asked at Thursday's White House briefing about the administration's priorities after health reform, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs listed financial regulatory reform, campaign finance and comprehensive energy legislation. He did not mention immigration.

1. Minimum wage earners with one to three children RECEIVE tax credit checks, they don't "pay taxes".
2. Every illegal already knows English: Green card and dollars.
3. "back of the line to earn lawful permanent residency" is the biggest lie of all, as soon as they get their temporary or worker or Z visa they will be lawful residents, and since nobody will ever kick them out they are here to stay permanently.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Illegal Aliens
"The main differences would be the creation of what appears to be a tougher workplace identification card and the differentiation between low and high skilled workers for future immigration to the United States."
Do not believe this, employers will find a way to hire illegals. They always do. And we will have the same problem. More illegal aliens. And this bll will not solve the illegal alien situation. The only solution is deportation now.
"Like the previous plans, this one includes a legalization plan that would require illegal immigrants to pay fines and back taxes, pass background checks, know English and go to the back of the line to earn lawful permanent residency."
Do not believe this. The lawmakers will find a way to avoid this. So, I do not support amnesty for illegal aliens. I support deportation. Do not believe the politicians.
This November let's remove from office all politicians, Democrats and Republicans, who support amnesty for illegal aliens.
The American people do not want amnesty for illegal aliens. Don't you get it politicians. We do not want amnesty. So stop this now.

I fell for the BS of 86...So many good ideas and laws to prevent future Illegal Immigration...This new amnesty would be just the same...2 years after passing all the new regulations would once again be ignored. In 1988 Mayor Ed Koch stood on City Hall steps and proudly proclaimed Sanctuary...Schumer and Kennedy never protested that. He11 no one tried to nip it in the bud.

PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG HERE, BUT CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME, HOW IS IT THAT THEY CAN DEPORT ILLEGAL HAITANS AND NOT ILLEGAL HISPANICS? ITS WRONG FOR EITHER OF THEM TO BE HERE ILLEGAL BUT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM DEPORTING HAITANS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND THEY KNOW IT. IF THEY ARE GOING TO DEPORT ONE GROUP OF PEOPLE, ITS ONLY RIGHT THAT THEY GO AFTER THE OTHER GROUP.
