ou Dobbs Tonight
Wednesday June 27, 2007

Tonight, the U.S. Senate is debating the now 26 amendments
included in the reformed version of the so-called grand
compromise that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal
aliens in America. The Senate voted 64 to 35 yesterday in favor
of proceeding to debate. We’ll have the inside story of how and
why so many Senators in the world’s preeminent deliberative
body changed their votes.

Companies that use the most H-1B visas are also using large
numbers of L visas in an attempt to evade hiring America
workers. L visas allow multinational companies to easily
transfer managers and specialists to U.S. offices without the
restrictions of H-1B visas. The Bureau of Citizenship and
Immigration Services said the findings prove there needs to be
better checks on L visas. Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick
Durbin sent a letter to USCIS demanding an investigation. Will
their voices be heard? Find out more tonight.

Red Storm Rising: Four Senators have written to President Bush
demanding the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
recall faulty tires from China. The U.S. distributor is
bickering with the government over who should pay for the
recall, saying they don’t have the funds to pay for it.
Meanwhile, the distributor only initiated discussion over the
faulty tires after a fatal crash resulted in a suit against
them. While there is plenty of blame to go around, U.S.
consumers remain at risk. We’ll have that full report tonight.

And we'll be joined by Senator Byron Dorgan, a leading Democrat
who voted against moving ahead with the grand compromise. The
Senator says this bill would give amnesty to illegal aliens and
put downward pressure on the wages of American workers. Is he
right? Tune in tonight.
