Post USA Today: 3.6M Illegals Brought to the US as Kids

An estimated 3.6 million illegal immigrants in America were brought here as children — a stunning figure more than three times higher than one commonly used in the contentious political debate over the fate of so-called Dreamers, USA Today reported.

The larger number isn't widely known because so much attention is currently focused on the 800,000 immigrants protected by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program — and terminated by President Donald Trump last September, the outlet noted.

Yet even though politicians toss around the terms "Dreamers" and "DACA" interchangeably, "that's not a distinction without a difference," House Minority Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told USA Today.

According to USA Today, the 3.6 million estimate of illegal immigrants brought to the United States as minors comes from the non-profit Migration Policy Institute — and represents about a third of all illegals in America.

"At a time when our economy is growing and our labor market is extremely tight, these are all folks of working age who have skills to immediately contribute," Ali Noorani, executive director of the pro-immigrant National Immigration Forum, told the news outlet. "We would be spending billions of dollars to remove folks who have the potential to help the country grow."

Mark Krikorian, executive director for the Center for Immigration Studies, which favors lower levels of immigration, disagrees.

"It's not like they're entitled to anything, but prudence suggests an extraordinary act of mercy," he told USA Today. "Amnesty is warranted for them alone, at least this time."

Cecilia Muñoz, the former domestic policy director for President Barack Obama, said the 2012 executive order could only go so far protecting Dreamers, and now that Congress is involved, more migrants brought here as children should be given the same protection.
"The right policy is to be as generous as possible," Muñoz said. "There's no reason to limit who is eligible."
According to USA Today, several legislative proposals protect different numbers of Dreamers, with the most generous, introduced by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., providing legal status to 3.5 million Dreamers, excluding only a small group who pose public safety threats. The most restrictive proposals would provide legal status only to the 798,980 people approved for DACA.

Bull! NONE of them should be eligible for special treatment. NO ONE in the government will admit it won't stop with the "dreamers". If they are granted amnesty they will become more vocal and believe themselves to be entitled to anything and everything. I can only imagine the riots to come, amnesty for Mommy and Daddy... then any and all relatives.

After this stunt Schumer and the Democraps pulled any and ALL talks about amnesty for any of them should be OFF the table. IMHO what they are doing is true domestic terrorism.

Mark Krikorian: Trump Sounded 'More Like Jeb Bush' at Immigration Meeting

President Donald Trump sounded "more like Jeb Bush" than himself during Tuesday's meeting with lawmakers at the White House on immigration, and many questions remain about what will happen on the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals program issue, Mark Krikorian, executive director for the Center for Immigration Studies, said Wednesday.

"He made a lot of comments that frankly sounded a lot more like Jeb Bush than Donald Trump," Krikorian told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "I joked on Twitter that the 'J' in Donald J. Trump should be Jeb at this point."

However, he added, there have been other times where it sounded as if Trump was making a deal with Democrats, including after he met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi in 2017.

"Even during the campaign, he had various events where it sounded like he was going rogue," said Krikorian. "It never turned out that way. I'm not — I'm worried but I'm not necessarily more worried than I was before."

He does think that Trump was "cultivating discussion" during the meeting, but he doesn't think he was "necessarily" selling out his supporters.

"He was just, I think, it was a reality show," said Krikorian. "It was the 'Real Politicians of Washington D.C.' The question is going to be, what is the actual legislation that is going to come out of it?"

He continued that he was encouraged that Trump talked about a proposed bill by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., who chairs the House Judiciary Committee.

"It is to deal with, the amnesty the DACAs, give them a three-year work permit legally, not the phony thing [Barack] Obama has done, in exchange for getting rid of Visa lottery, getting rid of chain migration, mandate e-verify and border and other enforcement measures," said Krikorian.

"It is not everything I would like. That is a pretty good bill. That is the only bill the president talked about."

Dreamers, he continued, are "different than any other illegals."

"The Democrats in that room were basically saying, look, this is a camel's nose under the tent," said Krikorian of the meeting.

"'We want to give them amnesty. Then we want to give it to everybody else.'"

Nothing can be verified - most crossed themselves via drug cartels and were young teens. Every family has at least 10 kids That was the plan flood them across the border, sardine in rental properties, hook them up with jobs and then lie @ when you came, how you came. No one even knows your history, your siblings history.

They all know the drug cartels, they brought them across. And they will all come forward wanting permission to stay in USA if an amnesty is passed for daca or all under a certain age. Mega millions, then they will want their parents, aunts, uncles, cousins to be here, and of course plop them babies out on our dime too. Politicians, chamber of commerce are counting on the cheap labor and dumbness of these foreigners that have NO right to be here amongst us. When will trump stop taking in the tens of thousands of central americans?

Mark Krikorian and his organization Center for Immigration Studies CIS along with NumbersUSA are responsible for this Amnesty danger because they have been telling Trump and lawmakers in DC it is ok to "cut a deal" on DACA Amnesty.

Now it is clear what they plan to do and Krikorian and NumbersUSA are trying to backpeddle.
