NEWARK — An Indonesian immigrant who was a member of a community living in New Jersey for years under a special visa program has been deported.

The Rev. Seth Kaper-Dale of The Reformed Church of Highland Park says Ferdy Warou was sent back to Indonesia on Monday.

Kaper-Dale has been advocating on behalf of Warou and a wider group of Indonesian Christian immigrants in three states.

They had been legal in the U.S. for years under a special agreement, but several now face deportation.

Church officials have been lobbying federal lawmakers to allow the Indonesians to stay.

Kaper-Dales says Warou faces religious persecution back home.

A spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the agency has exercised prosecutorial discretion in the Indonesian cases and each one is being decided individually.

Of course he was deported, he's not Mexican!

Not that they all shouldn't be deported....
