EL PASO, Texas -- Bishops of El Paso, Las Cruces, and Juárez gathered today on the border fence between Sunland Park and Anapra, Mexico to host an annual border mass for immigration.

During the mass, there was a disruption of people who were finding ways to get through the fence.

Our media partner, El Paso Times, reports at least five people were arrested for crossing illegally into the U.S. while the mas was happening.

At least eight people “breached” the fence and crossed into the U.S., said Ramiro Cordero, a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman.

Border Patrol agents are still looking for a couple of people who illegally crossed during the mass, according to Cordero.

The border mass happens every year in honor of hundreds of migrants who have lost their lives trying to cross the border fence between the U.S. and Mexico.

Today was the 16th border mass held between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
