DALLAS (AP) — The Latest on immigration agents arrest of nearly 300 people at a Texas company (all times local):

Immigration officials say the nearly 300 people arrested at a Texas technology repair company came to the U.S. from 15 different countries on multiple continents.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says it has released nearly two-thirds of the more than 280 people who did not have legal authorization to work in this country. They worked at CVE Technology Group refurbishing used cellphones.

Special Agent in Charge Katrina Berger says 110 of the people are being held in federal detention centers in Texas. The rest were given a date to appear in immigration court and released for "humanitarian reasons," such as being the sole caregiver for a child or having a serious illness.

Berger says her staff conducted the large operation without drawing agents from other jurisdictions.

A phone message seeking comment with CVE was not immediately returned.

There were more than four times as many women than men arrested Wednesday in the country's largest immigration raid in 10 years, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said. The 284 workers came from 15 different countries.

ICE rounded up the undocumented immigrants at CVE Technology, a consumer electronics repair company, in the Dallas suburb of Allen.

Officials have released details of the workers, such as nationality, gender and current status.

Current status

According to ICE, of the 284 people arrested:

• 110 remain detained in custody. Some have been transferred to Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, around 30 miles south of Fort Worth.
• 174 were released for humanitarian reasons, such as being a sole caregiver, but were issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge.

There's a backlog in the U.S. immigration court system right now. Those who've been released could wait for two years to go before an immigration judge after their initial court appearance.

Of the 110 immigrants still detained:

• 9 had illegally re-entered the U.S. after having been previously deported.
• 8 had already received final orders of removal.

During the raid, agents also encountered 125 additional CVE employees who were determined to be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents or they otherwise had legal status to work in the U.S., ICE said.

Demographic details

There were many more women arrested than men — 233 vs. 51.

More workers were from Mexico than any other country, followed by Nigeria.

It's not known yet what will happen to CVE Technology. As of April 4, the company's website is down and its telephones are not working.

Take them to their homes to collect their belongings and family members and deport them on the spot!

They never leave. Stop giving these illegal aliens a free pass to stay here, steal our identities and take our jobs and housing!

This morning a man called in on C-Span. He said he was sick so he went to the doctor who told him he had Hepatitis. The man said how did I get this. The doctor said I am not supposed to tell you this but these illegals are bringing all kinds of illnesses in here.

Another man with an accent called in and said people do not realize that the US and Multi-Nationals have bought up all the little farms in those countries and those people have no way to make a living. If that is true I feel sorry for those people but the average American should not be punished because of what big business does. Greed is destroying the whole world.

If the Multi-Nationals bought up those farms that that is THEIR governments problem for allowing it with no rules in place that take care of those people. They can create their own Unions!

Send them back! We are not the dumping ground for the world, the solution for their corrupt governments, and not their ATM machine!
