ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Roswell Mayor Dennis J. Kintigh has confirmed some of the immigrants from Central America who have been staying in Artesia were deported Monday morning.

The immigrants, who are mostly women and children, crossed the border illegally, and their stay in Artesia has been controversial.

At this point, few details are known about the those who left Monday, including how many there were.

Tens of thousands of Central American kids have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border, creating a national problem. On Monday, two Texas lawmakers announced legislation to speed the removal of the immigrants from the U.S.

According to a story by the Associated Press, of the 57,000 minors who have crossed the border, only 1,254 had been returned home as of the end of June. They have been temporarily housed in various places, including at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia.

Undocumented Women, Children Deported to Honduras

A flight carrying about 40 undocumented immigrants, including children, from the U.S. detention facility in New Mexico arrived Monday in Honduras, the Department of Homeland Security said.

The families were bused to the Roswell, New Mexico, airport Monday morning from a federal law enforcement training facility at Artesia that was converted last month to house about 400 Central American women and children. Homeland Security officials told NBC News the flight was just the "initial wave" of deportations," with one saying, "We expect additional migrants will be returned to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador in the coming days and weeks." U.S. immigration officials say the influx of women and children from the Central American countries has spiked in recent months, fueled by false rumors of a June "deadline" under which they could stay in the U.S. legally. The prospect of deporting children back to their dangerous homelands has galvanized immigration activists.

Do not be lulled back into easy slumber. Can't you hear it now, "We are deporting, give us time." Well, they are 28 years and up to 60,000,000 aliens behind. I would not give them more than 90 days to remove all 69.000.000. After 28 years of waiting, they deserve NO PATIENCE from Americans! Git'er done!!

They needed a plane to land and people to get off for a picture for them to put in every newspaper in Mexico and Central America to discourage people from making the trip. The U.S. will pay newspapers to put that picture on the front page.

I do not doubt what you say, Johndoe2. Paying to get news printed does not imply that we are dealing with honesty down there. Relationships are built upon trust.

126 out of an estimated 290,000 is nothing but a press release.

This deportation is as phony as everything else Obama's junta has done. When are people going to wise up to the incredible deceit of this Marxist fanatic. He says one thing and does another, constantly. That is a strategy not confusion on his part. It keeps his opponents confused and debating among them selves and in that state they are unable to plan an effective strategy or organize in opposition. Remember how indignantly he said he would get to the bottom of the IRS scandal? To this day nothing has happened and it never will. He never intended to do anything about it. But the naïve and political opportunists were placated by his deceitful words. He lies and lies and lies to sew confusion and promote disorganization among his opponents, the old political bosses and opportunist simply can not understand the mind of a political fanatic.

100,000 thousand or how many other illegal aliens have poured across the border in a few months. 40 people is a joke, a token, a sham to create the false image that he is actually going to deport illegal aliens. And again his opponents are confused and believe that he really will try to enforce the law. How long will it be before another tiny handful are deported while thousands are shipped deep into the US landscape and lost forever. If he were serious about controlling the border he could put National Guard troops on the border tomorrow. Why are illegal aliens being shipped deep into America instead of being held only long enough to get them sent back to Latin America?

RINOs don't understand that he is a POLITICAL FANATIC. A deceitful, lying, manipulating, narcissistic, megalomaniac. He will never deal in good faith with anyone; he can never be trusted to do anything constructive, he will never tell the truth or be honest about anything.

A planeload of single mothers and children arrived in this gang-ridden Honduran city on Monday, ferried back on a U.S.-chartered flight as an unprecedented surge of Central American migrants has overwhelmed U.S. border enforcement officials in recent months.

It was the first in a series deportation flights that are expected to leave the United States for Honduras carrying only women and children in the coming days.

A total of 18 mothers, 13 girls and nine boys, who were being held at a U.S. detention center in Artesia, N.M., were scheduled to be on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement charter Monday. But two passengers fell ill and didn't board, officials said.

Hordes of politicians, camera crews and aid workers were on hand to welcome the women and children when they landed at the Ramon Villeda Morales airport. Even the nation’s first lady and her entourage were present, a show of support by government officials who have been scrambling to figure out how to alleviate what’s been called a humanitarian crisis.

But some activists and aid workers remain critical of the Honduran government’s efforts, saying that federal officials have largely ignored the exodus from their country until now and still don’t have a solid plan to deal with the escalating crisis.

The new arrivals were brought to a nearby center to be processed. Aid workers handed suckers and red and green balloons to the children.

Their return to Honduras came at President Obama’s direction, according to an official at the Department of Homeland Security, who requested anonymity in discussing the development.

“This is just the initial wave,” the official said. “Our border is not open to illegal migration and we will send recent illegal migrants back.”

The number of women and children arriving in the U.S. from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras has skyrocketed in recent months, with more than 57,000 seeking permission to remain.

This is the picture that needs to be spread all over Central America to discourage people from making the trip north.
