Chicago, IL.-Today, we are again witness of the inhumanity of our broken immigration law. Rebecca Rojas today will leave her U.S. citizen husband and U.S. citizen children and return to Mexico, leaving the family she loves and the family that needs her.

What is her crime? Why has the Bush administration in its final days chosen to destroy this family and disrespect the democratic will of the people of Illinois?

Rebecca's crime is that she crossed a border, which no one protected, to work in a job that welcomed her labor and to live lawfully under a government that gladly accepted her taxes for almost two decades. Her crime is that she fell in love and built a faithful family and raised her children in the ways of the Lord.

She leaves today, under the threat of arrest and imprisonment, even though Congressman Gutierrez has introduced a private bill on her behalf.

What madness has caused I.C.E. to refuse to give her a stay until this private bill could have the time to be processed by the new congress, to refuse to let this family stay together?

Rebecca joins Elvira Arellano and hundreds of thousands of others who have been separated from their U.S. citizen families by the broken law.

To Rebecca, we can only say that we love you and that we cannot rest until the law is changed and you are back with your family.

To this administration we prepare to say goodbye and may God have mercy on your soul.

To President elect Barack Obama and the new Congress we say the time is now to honor what God has joined together. It is time to act to stop the raids, deportations and separation of families. It is time to stop breaking the hearts of children.

She lived here for 20 years and married a US citizen? Under that situation she could have applied for a green card, why didn't she?

If you are an irresponsible moron yes you will be deported!!

Rebecca Rojas violated our immigration laws, our workplace laws and probably countless others as well.....she had every opportunity to return to Mexico voluntarily and begin a process of applying for a visa...even if it would've taken her 10 years or more...now that she took the gamble and waited to get forcibly deported ...she'll probably never be eligible for a visa..but that was her choice...she also could've moved her family with her to Mexico. This isn't about our laws .....she, like milllions of other Mexicans who cross our border illegally and then stubbornely refuse to leave, establish families...are jeopardizing their family's unity and security by their bullheaded decisions. Spare us the sob stories.

I live in Illinois and I want this woman gone.

She leaves today, under the threat of arrest and imprisonment, even though Congressman Gutierrez has introduced a private bill on her behalf.
Gutierrez speaks only for the Hispanics in his district and for no one else in Illinois. I'm getting tired of his private bills to keep illegals here.

Rebecca joins Elvira Arellano and hundreds of thousands of others who have been separated from their U.S. citizen families by the broken law.
    Elvira's family is in Mexico.

No love here. I rest easy knowing another Mexican criminal is returning home.

She could also have established an economic footing for herself in Mexico so that going back there need not be a hardship and relatives still there have no need or temptation to leave there.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

It would be nice if they thought as far ahead as you do, Richard, but from all I've read that just doesn't happen. Delayed gratification has no meaning to them.
