    a.b.c. (Mexico City) 1/7/08

    Eduardo Rivelino Pedraza, a Mexican "AFI" agent (Agencia Federal de Investigaciones) was found dead yesterday morning. He'd been shot on the head and his body was dumped on a sidewalk in Circuito Fundadores in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, just outside the Mexico City limits.
    Cuarto Poder (Tuxtla, Chiapas) 1/7/08

    In Chiapas, police stopped two vehicles, a "Boyaguer" with no plates and an SUV with Kentucky license plate 2592-MJ. The passengers: one "pollero" in each plus 14 undocumented Guatemalans, including women and children.

    El Dictamen (Veracruz, Ver.) 1/7/08

    Yesterday morning in far southern Veracruz state, Acayucan city police found 16 Central and South Americans literally stuffed and hidden around in the cab area of an 18-wheeler tractor truck. There were 9 men and 7 women from Bolivia, Ecuador plus from the usual Central American countries. The smuggler was one Guillermo Herrera Valdes, 35, of Mexico.

    Diario Xalapa (Xalapa, Veracruz) 1/7/08

    Guillermo Diaz Lozano took over as Chief of the "Preventive Municipal Police" of the city of Tres Valles, Veracruz, six days ago. Yesterday at noon he was walking in town just half a block from the City Hall when he was shot and killed by unknown men in an SUV who then fled. Empty cartridges for an AR15 rifle were found at the scene.

    Entorno a Tamaulipas (Matamoros, Tamps.) & La Cronica de Hoy (Mexico City) 1/7/08

    1. Rio Bravo is a town a few miles outside Reynosa, Tamaulipas, which in turn is across the Rio Grande from McAllen, Texas. This morning there have been several street shootouts in Rio Bravo, some in front of the "Public Security Department" offices and others in nearby streets. The latest reports are that some 500 military personnel have come to the area and that all vehicle traffic in or out of Rio Bravo is subject to inspection at military checkpoints. There are also reports that at least four have died and that there are a number of wounded.

    2. In Reynosa itself a search of a "safehouse" at Avenida Los Ebanos # 300 & 308, Colonia Ernesto Zedillo, yielded 266 packages of crack cocaine, 276 bags of powder cocaine, four firearms including an assault rifle, a scale, ammunition of various calibers, $4,899 (U.S.), and loading clips for firearms.

    El Manana (Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas) 1/7/08

    Aurelio Alaman Bueno, regional delegate of the "INM" (Mex. Immigr.) said that undocumented emigrants from Central and South America are being deported to Mexico at Nuevo Laredo because of the lack of personnel to verify their citizenship.
    "The undocumented are very smart, they claim to be Mexicans to avoid being sent to their country of origin, on top of the fact that American officials have no way of verifying if it's true that they are not from our country."
    The "sub-delegate", Juan Lorenzo Sabines Cordova, said that the Border Patrol ought to let them know the date and time when the groups of deported are going to be left halfway on the (border) bridge so that they can ascertain the citizenship of the deportees.

    Two marihuana fields were located in Jalisco and the weed destroyed. At the Los Rivera Ranch, Tequila : 13,150 plants. At Tarjeas, La Huerta: 58,800 plants.

    "Some 225 thousand Mexicans residents of Arizona are living a psychosis due to their future's uncertainty because of the application of the law which obligates employers to ascertain their employees' immigration status."
    "In a telephone interview, Elias Bermudez, leader of the "Migrants Without Borders" organization, warned that the hostility against Mexicans in Arizona will soon spread throughout the United States."

    El Sur (Acapulco, Guerrero) 1/7/08

    Three more men were executed Sunday morning in Tlapa, state of Guerrero. Some witnesses said that the killers arrived in several vehicles and waited for their three victims to exit a house where there'd been a party. As they did, they were shot and killed.
    This makes seven executions in Guerrero in the last two days; on Saturday, two bodies were found with hands tied behind their back, their faces wrapped with tape and "coup de grace' shots to the head.

    El Heraldo (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) 1/7/08

    An article cites a report in the Spanish newspaper "El Pais" which says that Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are the three most violent countries in the Western Hemisphere and that every month 42 minors are murdered in Honduras, a rate of 1.4 per day, while in Guatemala the equivalent monthly toll is 50. The victims either fall to "drive-by" shootings or are first kidnapped, tortured, then killed and dumped in a variety of locales.

    La Prensa (San Salvador, El Salvador) 1/7/08

    1. Two adult men and three teenagers were in front of a house last night in the city of Santa Ana, El Savador, when a pickup truck stopped, men got out and shot and killed all five. And in Tonacatepeque, men in a p/u truck fired at some youths in a park. An eleven year old was killed; a 14 and a 20 year old were wounded by the gunfire.

    2. Rigoberto del Transito Mejia Regalado, 27, is said to be wanted in a Maryland federal court for having ordered the murder of nine persons in Maryland while he himself was in jail. He was reportedly killed yesterday in a shootout with Salvadoran National Police at Cuscatancingo, where six other members of his gang were arrested.
    Two different women are said to be expecting to give birth to children fathered by Mejia.

    El Universo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) 1/7/08

    A U.S. Coast Guard vessel - not otherwise identified - spotted an Ecuadorean "fishing vessel" , the "Mercedes V", some 215 miles N.E. of the Galapagos Islands and alerted the Ecuadorean Navy. The crew of three Colombians and three Ecuadoreans was arrested because the vessel had an unspecified amount of packages of narcotics. The "Mercedes V" sank.

    I can do without burritos, tacos, pinatas, pina colatas, tequila and anything else illegals want to asociate with their illegal presence in my country.
