Kirksville, Mo. — A suspected illegal immigrant was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol for driving without a valid license after being stopped at a driver’s license check point in Adair County.

Rolando Perez, 38, is charged with the class A misdemeanor of operating a vehicle without a valid license. A state trooper arrested Perez after he both failed to provide a driver’s license and gave a false name, according to the probable cause statement.

During the arrest, Perez told officers he lives in Milan and that he has no family ties to the area. A check on his Immigration and Customs status was still pending.

Perez was being held in the Adair County Jail on a $5,000 bond for the misdemeanor and no-bond pending his immigration status check.
